Cars are meant
to be driven.

A car can be preserved without being parked. I believe in looking after cars properly. Maintain them. Understand them. Preserve what is worth preserving. But for heaven’s sake, use them.

A sports car was built to move. To accelerate, brake, corner and occasionally get dirty. Mechanical things generally work better when they are allowed to do what they were designed to do. And cars create memories with someone behind the wheel, not underneath a cover.

That does not mean abusing them. Quite the opposite.

Part of understanding a car is knowing when you can push it, when you should protect it and what it needs afterwards. I have driven valuable cars through snow, across mountain passes, on racetracks and occasionally down roads where somebody probably should have stopped me.

Nobody did. The cars survived. So did I. And strangely enough, those are usually the drives I remember.

Take care of it.
Then drive it.

A friend of mine once put it slightly differently:

„Eine schöne Auto isse wie eine Frau: du musse sie lieben – oder willst du sie für den nächsten aufheben?“
